With the clocks going back and the amazing weather this weekend we’re really excited for a Cornish summer full of beach days and barbecues, family time and days out with friends. There are so many great places to explore so we thought we’d share our top five things to do in Cornwall during summer:

Eden Project’s Rainforest Canopy Walkway
The Rainforest Canopy at Eden Project - St Ives Penzance, Cornwall

Brand new to the Eden Project is the Rainforest Canopy Walkway. This treetop walk in the Rainforest Biome also has a Weather Maker exhibition with a 23 metre rope bridge set 50 metres high in the treetops, a fully accessible cloud bridge where you can travel through swirling clouds and an immersive exhibit where you can shelter from tropical rain storms. The exhibition really is both educational and fun, and a great addition to Eden.

Porthcurno Beach and Minack TheatrePorthcurno Beach, Penzance - Cornwall.

With golden sands and turquoise water it’s easy to mistake this beach for a tropical paradise on a hot day. It’s no secret that Porthcurno is one of our favourite beaches in Cornwall. If you haven’t been we highly recommend making a trip this summer. Whilst you’re there why not visit the Minack Theatre? Whether you’re watching a show or just taking a look around the view is one of a kind and if you’re lucky you might spot a basking shark in the water below.

A Day Trip To The Isles of Scilly

Tresco, Isles of Scilly - St Ives Penzance, Cornwall

If you want to visit the beautiful Isles of Scilly but don’t want to commit to a full holiday there why not make a day trip? Day trip returns on the Scillonian III start from only £39.50 giving you around 4 hours to explore the islands. Some of our favourite spots include; Porthcressa Beach on St Mary’s, Abbey Garden on Tresco and the Iron Age and Bronze Age settlements at Halangy Village and Bant’s Carn.

Island Cafe on St Michael’s Mount

St Michael's Mount - Things to do in Cornwall - St Ives Penzance

The mount is one of the places that remains just as beautiful each time you go. From the walkway, to the castle and gardens, there’s plenty to explore in this idyllic harbour village. They’ve also just renovated the Island Cafe which is now opening seven days a week during the summer from 9:30am – 4:30pm serving breakfast, light lunches, pasties and healthy options. What really makes this cafe special is the expansive outdoor seating with sea views. Such a great spot to enjoy a sunny day.

Coasteering with Kernow Coasteering

Kernow Coasteering - St Ives Penzance, Cornwall

A little more adventurous than some of our other offerings, but Cornwall is known for its water sports. Kernow Coasteering is based in West Cornwall and sessions start at £40 per person. Although coasteering is family friendly the minimum participation age is 9 years old and you must have a reasonable level of fitness and be a confident swimmer.

We’d love to hear about your favourite summer activities? You can also tag us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #stivespenzance to share your photos of Cornwall.
