The Tolcarne Inn is a historic maritime pub, nestled in the heart of Newlyn near the harbour.

The building is over 300 years old and has been beautiful renovated with wood burners and exposed granite and the outside space is a sheltered suntrap during the summer months. Chef Ben Tunnicliffe has created a seasonal menu that showcases the freshest fish with dishes such as homemade fishcakes with spring greens and poached egg, and roast monkfish and squash caponata with polenta, as well as serving an excellent Sunday Lunch.

Main courses range from £13 – 21. They have vegetarian options and are happy to adapt dishes for specific dietary. They’re open every day from 11:30am – late serving real ales, local ciders, refreshments, coffee and homemade cakes.

Lovetts Wine Bar

Lovetts Wine Bar - Restaurants in Newlyn, Cornwall

Lovetts is a very new addition to Newlyn but is fast becoming one of the villages’ most popular spots. They focus on low intervention wines, single origin coffee, craft beer and artisan spirits. In the morning, they serve great coffee with cakes and a few simples breakfast dishes. In the evening, they serve an excellent range of wines and a small but carefully chosen selection of spirits and beers with a selection of tasty homemade small plates.

They have vegetarian options and excellent service. Just remember this is a wine bar with snacks as opposed to a restaurant with a full dinner service. The establishment is small and cosy, but this makes it difficult to enter for wheelchair users and prams. They are open Tuesday – Saturday from 8am – 12 noon for breakfast and 5pm – 10pm for drinks.

Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar

Restaurants and places to eat in Newlyn

Mackerel Sky is a small seafood bar serving fresh fish tapas and is one of Newlyn’s most popular restaurants. We recommend their homemade crab nachos and their crispy sole fillets in katsu curry sauce. Their fish and seafood is extremely fresh, but of course, their menu is not suitable for vegetarians.

Tapas dishes range from £7 – £9.50 and sides are £3.50. They are open every day in during the high season, serving lunch 12 – 3pm and dinner 6 – 9pm. They do not take bookings. They are also very small and get busy very quickly, so we recommend arriving early.
