The cobbled streets of St Ives offer so many wonderful culinary delights that we’ll admit, this list was hard to make. You’re spoilt for choice with great such great offerings that are made even better by the laid back seaside atmosphere of the town, and scenic views across the harbour and beaches. So for those that are struggling to decide where to eat, or just want to try somewhere new we thought we’d share the our top 5 favourite restaurants in St Ives:
The Mex – Mexican
The Mex is a wonderful restaurant that serves an excellent range of Mexican themed dishes. Vegetarians, vegans and those on special diets are well catered for and they even have a children’s menu. All of their food is cooked fresh to order and served as you like it. Their chefs are entirely flexible – so if you’re a little shy of spicy food speak up, they’re happy to accommodate. Or if you want your dish extra hot, why not add a little more heat?
Porthmeor Beach Cafe – Tapas
Porthmeor Beach Café is overlooks the beautiful blue flag beach, Porthmeor. With a buzzing atmosphere, alfresco dining and imaginative cocktails they serve a great selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We particularly recommend ordering a selection of tapas enjoyed in one of their cosy heated booths.
Blas Burgerworks – Burgers
Tucked away on the Warren you’ll find Blas Burgerworks, a wonderful little joint that makes delicious burgers using local Cornish meat, that’s naturally reared, free range and cooked on a chargrill. They offer gluten free buns, as well as a great selection of vegetarian and vegan burger options. Not only do they cater for burger-lovers everywhere they also have a great ethos. They’re going as far as they possibly can to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, from the ingredients they buy to the cleaning products they use.
The Alba Restaurant – Fine Dining
Alba one of St Ives’s top fine dining establishments specialising in local produce, line-caught fish and seasonal vegetables. The menu is designed by award winning chef and proprietor Grant Nethercott and showcases natural, eclectic flavour combinations. Although the dishes have been influenced by French cuisine, Nethercott classes the food at Alba as modern British style. The seascape views and stylish decor create a great atmosphere that makes your dining experience even more special.
